Territorializing the UN 2030 Agenda. Defining the Urban Agenda for Sustainable Development

The UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are conceived as global objectives that need to inform national policies. Their implementation mast be considered systemically, by integrating policies and measures at various levels of national governance.

In particular cities and metropolitan areas, as public organizations that are closest to citizens  and possess levers for change, can play a determining role in contributing to national strategy and policy on sustainable development, through the downscaling of objectives and targets.

During the workshop, the results of the project “National Guidelines for the Sustainable Urban Agenda" by Bocconi's GREEN Research Center and University of Rome III will be presented. They underline the fundamental role or local government to reach the sustainability goals of the UN 2030 Agenda and implement the National Strategy for Sustainable Development.
